Review of Flash Game: Little Samurai

Be afraid of the Japanese Teletubby Ninja who runs across Japan with his samurai sword. Not only is he nauseatingly cute, to the point of almost being disgusting, but he also speaks baby "babble" instead of Japanese. At least he befriends a grizzly bear and dragon instead of a giggling sun in his first ten minutes of fame.

One of the few good things about the game is that the controls are simple-point and click. The background is usually pretty interesting and a little scary. It helps one cope with the cute ninja. Admittedly, it is kind of amusing to watch the guards and Japanese citizens run away in pain or occasionally become pleased because of Little Samurai's hijinks.

These amusing pranks don't negate the fact that the game is extremely short and easy. No challenge. If that doesn't bother you then there is still a good chance the main character will. He "babbles", a lot! Before he rides off into the next scene, he emits a Japanese character or heart. Most of the final battle is a video. It would be more fun to play more, but at least the battle seems exciting until you beat it. At which point, the only threatening and not cute villain, the evil wizard ninja, cries.

From an art perspective the game is very pleasant to look at, it has a nice consistent colour palate that creates some pretty landscapes, the animation is also top quality. You can tell the the game was made by a team of people and not by a single developer trying to do everything which all too often results in a very mediocre game.

This is one of a few basic flash games that Ive played recently, It's one of those ideas that on paper doesn't sound like it'll work. a game with absolutely no skill or puzzle solving that has no repeatability value, but it seems that this is just the sort of game people want to play in their spare time. Perhaps it provides a calm and relaxing atmosphere that requires no mental power at all that some people want after a hard days work.

Tips for beating the game:
The game is pretty simple. If stuck, run your mouse across the screen until it transforms from an arrow to a finger.

The last action is usually something your samurai does, so if you're stuck try clicking on yourself to finish the level.
