Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - 4 Years Later and Still Rockin'

Role Playing Games, or RPGs have been big hits when exported to the world of consoles. While video RPGs such as Final Fantasy or Zelda are still very present in the heart of games, more realistic games are also gaining in popularity as graphics are getting better every other generation. There are many great games out there, but one of these popular RPGs stands out for its engaging combat system, its great character customization feature, the well written story-line and the huge number of guilds and other side quests. We are talking about Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, the fourth game of the video games series of the same name.

Release in 2007, the fourth installment of the Elder Scroll series, Oblivion is an excellent role-playing game filled with interesting and well thought out details and a fascinating storyline. This game is not only fun to play, but also has a great replay value. You can customize your own character and travel in the impressive world of Cyrodil, where you will find tons of cities, camps, settlements, ruins, caves, shrines, dungeons and great landscapes with rivers, mountains (that are hard to climb), waterfalls, etc.

This game is definitely what one would expect of an RPG and uses typical RPGs techniques to defeat the enemies - magic, melee or ranged attacks. You can choose to complete the main quest at your own pace by or choose to take part or not to some of the other 100 side quests. The Elder Scrolls IV is so packed of adventures and things to do that a passionate gamer could spend, besides the main quest, over 100 hours exploring and solving the other puzzling quests.

This is a single-player game, although you might want some help from other of the room to help you solve some of the harder quests. Whether you choose to play in first-person or third-persfon mode, you will be pleasantly surprised as both mode were terrifically implemented, although there is some limitations to the third-person mode in terms of ranged attacks.

The open-ended format allow you to choose your own style - adventurer, speed and stealth, heroic. Long story short, whatever you choose to do in the game, you will enjoy it because everything was designed exceptionally.
